We are The Invisibles

Today brings the latest wheeze devised the Christians to use the Met. to promote their simplistic superstitious propaganda in a comic for the kids.

This is us demonstrating outside Scotland Yard though we know that no-one will see us or hear our point of view, but we will do it just the same.
What young people need is lives that are so full of interesting things to do that they will find drugs, drink, vandalism and crime a poor substitute. They don't need comics- promoting superstitious notions that did not work in the past, do not work now and cannot work in the future, because they are a con. to distract from what they really need, which is a society that values and cares about them.
Will these religious nuts get public funding and organisational help in promoting their dangerously mistaken view that crime can be solved by frightening people by divine retribution? Probably.
Morality is a function of society - alienated youngsters are angry when the society does not recognise their needs and does not respect their rights. It is nothing to do with belief in gods and ancient scriptures or getting brownie points towards entry into heaven.
The Christian church has shaped the cruel and punitive attitudes of our society that have always failed to curb crime. Any brief look at history will show how violent and abusive the religions have been, and they still are whenever they become strong.
Do we really want a missionary police force?

This is a few of us standing outside the BBC:-
.......because to the BBC we are not only invisible, but inaudible as well.
No doubt if we were like the religions and threw a few bombs about or took hostages, insisted on obedience to our views, with laws and punishments to enforce them, or having dedicated atheists, secularists and humanists in the House of Lords, our own schools and organisation to intimidate politicians, we too might get our foot in that big door and make our views known whenever the religions have their say.

This is us outside a Church School:-
We want every child to be able to go to a good secular school in their locality without having to be taken by car or travel unnecessarily especially in the morning rush hour.
We think children have a right to honest and objective teaching on every subject, including religion, opinion should be taught as opinion not fact.
If they are opted-out the alternative should be interesting and worthwhile. This way, parents might want to opt for the alternative e.g. how to resolve dilemmas, or 'A child's guide to philosophy'.
Parents have a right to expect their children not to be inculcated into superstitious beliefs in school and be forced to use faith schools because they are the nearest especially if they have several children and do not have a car.
Teachers too have a right not to be discriminated against on grounds of their belief or way of life.
And the wider society has a right to the safety of a cohesive community, that is not riven by sectarianism and the bullying that often goes when children do not learn to mix.
